• How forest got the name: The word kamya means charming as well as attractive and van means forest.

• About Kamyavana :


Kamyavan is fourth among the twelve forests of Vraja-mandala. The word kamya means “extremely beautiful”, “well adorned”or “highly attractive”. This forest within Vraja-mandala is a most charming pastime place of Shri Krishna. Many pleasant lakes, wells, ponds, trees, creepers, flowers, fruits and species of birds contribute to its extraordinary beauty. Hence, it is called Kamyavan.This is the place where Krishna performed many of His childhood pastimes. According to the Vishnu Purana, there are eighty-four sacred ponds, eighty-four temples and eighty-four pillars in Kamyavan. It is said that a famous king named Shri Kamasena established them all. Kamyavan has countless small and large kundas (small reservoir of water), as well as a Parikrama of fourteen miles. Some of the prominent kundas are Vimala Kunda, Dharma Kunda and Kama Kunda.

• Places to visit in this forest:


  • Madan mohan mandir, Gopinath mandir, Govind dev mandir and Vrinda devi : these temples are closer to each other. The deities which were established by Goswamis in Vrindavan, due to attack by Mughal were shifted to Jaipur before shifting they stayed for three nights in kamyavan.
  • Vimala kund : this kund is formed by Lord Krishna in order to compensate for pushkar tirtha. Another history behind forming this kund is Krishna married the sixteen thousand daughters of Vimala who was the king of champak nagari of sindhu desha. These daughters were inhabitants of Ayodhya and had long cherished desire to serve Lord in conjugal love and that was fulfilled in dwapar yug by Lord Krishna. So the Tears of happiness that flooded from their eyes and created Vimala kund.
  • Rameshwar setu bandh : rameswar Mahadev and the stones which floats in the water . the famous pastime of Krishna building the bridge and shows that he is Lord Ram and established the the shiva ling called Rameswar Mahadev.
  • Gaya kund : this is the aadi Gaya. One will get the same benefit by offering the pinda to the their forefathers which is done in Gaya located at Bihar province
  • Dharma kund : The famous pastime place of Pancha Pandavas and Yaksha
  • Pichalani shila : : Krishna plays along with his Friends. Sitting in a bending form they slide down the rock again and again
  • Vyomasur gufa(cave) : this is on the hill near pichalani shila. Krishna killed vyomasur who brought his cowherd friends and hid the cave and released all friends after killing the demons. Krishna lotus prints are to be seen on the hill.
  • Balram Charan Chinna: while Krishna was engaged in fighting with Vyomasura the earth was trembling so in order to make the earth stationary Lord Balram pressed the earth by his lotus foot , the prints are located here.
  • Bhojan thali: Lord and his friends along with Balram would eat their lunch in this place. The stone got melted by the and turned into eating plate.
  • Charan Pahadi: Lord Krishna would stand on the rock and play the flute in order to call out all the cows. The foot prints are located here, it is the hill. the vehicle goes up to the certain point.

Activities Plan

  • This morning pick up form Delhi and drive to Vrindavan. Upon arrival check in hotel later proceeds to sightseeing of Vrindavan, visit Isckon Temple, Krishna &Balram Temple, Banke Bihari Temple, Seva Kunj and Dham. Back to hotel. Overnight at hotel in Vrindavan.

  • This morning after breakfast check out from hotel and proceeds to visit Dwakadhish Temple, Krishna Janmabhoomi and other temple. Later drive back to Delhi.
